Adelphi, was the first institution of higher education on Long Island. Today, a faculty of more than 500 full-time and part-time professors serve a student body of almost 6,000 undergraduate and graduate degree candidates. To graduate students in the professions, and adults seeking a change in their lives and careers, Adelphi offers over 70 graduate degree and certificate programs; small classes; a committed expert and approachable faculty; the convenience of three campuses, in Garden City, Manhattan--Soho, and Huntington; accelerated programming, evening and weekend class schedules; and lifelong career development.
The Community
Adelphi's main campus is located in historic Garden City, New York. Only 45 minutes from Manhattan, the pastoral 75 acre campus is easily reached by both public and private transportation. Students live nearby in most cases and a host of opportunities to get together outside of the classroom are provided. Garden City and the other local communities offer fine dining, music, sports, and other cultural events at such venues as the Nassau Coliseum, Shea Stadium, and the Westbury and Jones Beach theaters. In addition, because Adelphi is so close to New York City, Adelphi attracts some of the top names in business, politics, and the arts as visitors and lecturers on campus.
