Overview
George Fox is a Christian university of the arts, sciences, and professional studies ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a top-tier regional university. The University was founded in 1891 by Quaker pioneers. From the beginning, its purpose has been to demonstrate the meaning of Jesus Christ by offering a caring educational community in which each individual can achieve the highest intellectual and personal growth and participate responsibly in the world's concerns.

Overall enrollment at George Fox University is more than 3,000 students. Of those, more than 1,200 are enrolled in graduate programs.

The Location and Community
George Fox's 77-acre campus is located in Newberg, Oregon, 23 miles southwest of Portland. Classes are held at the University's Portland Center, Salem Center, Boise (Idaho) Center, and at other teaching sites in Oregon.

Programs of Study
The Doctor of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) (full-time: Newberg) is an APA-accredited, five-year program consisting of four years of study and a one-year internship. The program is based on the practitioner-scholar model and emphasizes clinical skills.

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) (part-time: Newberg, Portland) prepares educators to be leaders in their chosen specialties. Summer, weekend, and evening courses are designed for current educators.

The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) (part-time: Portland, Salem, Redmond) is a sixteen- or twenty-month program that prepares early childhood and K-12 teachers for public and private schools. Evening, weekend, and summer programs are offered.

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) (part-time: multiple locations) is for educators seeking advanced training. Eight specializations are offered. Summer and evening courses are designed for current educators. Courses are offered on-site and online.

The Administrative License Program (part-time: multiple locations) is designed either as a stand-alone program or as part of the M.Ed. or Ed.D. programs. Curricula are offered leading to the Initial Administrative License, Continuing Administrator/Initial Superintendent License, and Continuing Superintendent's License.

The Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) (part-time: Portland) is offered in two formats. The Executive M.B.A. is a two-year program scheduled in twenty-four Friday-Saturday blocks, with an online learning community. The Professional M.B.A. is a 26-month cohort program offered one night a week and some Saturdays.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in counseling (full-time/part-time: Portland, Salem) prepares students to be licensed professional counselors. The program includes two semesters of internship.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in marriage and family therapy (full-time/part-time: Portland, Salem) is designed to prepare students to be licensed marriage and family therapists. The program includes two semesters of internship.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in school counseling (part-time: Portland) prepares students to obtain an Initial School Counseling License. Evening and weekend classes are designed for working professionals. The program includes two semesters of internship.

The Master of Science (M.S.) in school psychology (part-time: Portland) prepares students to obtain their Initial School Psychology License. Evening and weekend classes are designed for working professionals. The program includes two semesters of internship.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in organizational leadership (part-time: Boise, Idaho) is a fifteen-month program designed to develop leaders for a broad range of organizations, including business, health care, education, the church, and the public sector.

Five programs are offered at the George Fox Evangelical Seminary in Portland.

The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) (full-time/part-time: Portland) is the highest professional degree for those in parish or related ministries. It is offered in two tracks: leadership in the emerging culture as well as leadership and spiritual formation.

The Master of Divinity (M.Div.) (full-time/part-time: Portland) prepares students for denominational ordination. Students may concentrate studies in chaplaincy, pastoral studies, biblical studies, Christian ministries, spiritual formation, marriage and family counseling, or Christian history and thought.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Christian ministries (full-time/part-time: Portland) prepares students for ordination or recording or for work as a lay minister. Studies may be concentrated in church leadership, adult ministries, urban ministries, spiritual formation, or family ministries.

The Master of Arts in Theological Studies (M.A.T.S.) program (full-time/part-time: Portland) prepares students for doctoral work in the field of theological studies with an emphasis on biblical studies or Christian history and thought.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in spiritual formation is a 42-credit-hour degree designed to equip lay persons as spiritual directors or as guides for spiritual formation ministries in the church or parachurch organizations.

Facilities & Resources
The Newberg campus library and the Portland Center library house a combined total of 190,000 print volumes and receive more than 1,200 print journal subscriptions. Thousands of journals are available in electronic format. The University is a member of the Portland Area Library System (PORTALS) and Summit, a consortium of academic libraries. Summit enables users to make requests from 22 million books held in all Oregon and Washington public colleges and eleven private colleges.

Expenses and Aid
Tuition varies by program. Applicants should contact the Office of Graduate Admission for specific program costs.

Financial Aid:
Scholarships are available for selected programs. The University participates in Federal Stafford Student Loan programs.

Housing/Living Expenses:
A wide variety of housing is available in Newberg and the metropolitan Portland area. On-campus housing is not available for graduate students.

How to Apply
To be admitted to any of the graduate programs, an applicant must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, with at least a 3.0 GPA over the last two years of course work. Certain application requirements differ among the graduate programs. Information may be obtained by contacting the Office of Graduate Admission. The application fee is a $40 (nonrefundable). A $200 matriculation deposit is required of all accepted applicants.
