Overview
Grand Valley State University was established in 1963 in Allendale, Michigan. Grand Valley enrolls approximately 21,400 students, approximately 3,600 of whom are graduate students. The Pew Campus in downtown Grand Rapids is the only full-service campus in the city and houses the majority of Grand Valley's graduate programs. The DeVos Center is a 250,000-square-foot facility that includes a state-of-the-art library, more than sixty classrooms and laboratories, faculty and staff offices, and more than 320 computers for student use. The most recent project to add to the Grand Rapids skyline is the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences. The five-story, 215,000-square-foot facility houses all of Grand Valley's health professions programs.

The graduate student population at Grand Valley State University ranges from full-time students directly out of an undergraduate program to part-time students with many years of professional experience. Approximately 65 percent of the students are female and a small percentage are international students who represent more than thirty countries.

The Location and Community
The Pew Campus, located in downtown Grand Rapids, comprises the majority of Grand Valley's graduate programs. Located on a 15-acre site just west of the Grand River, Grand Valley is in the heart of the city. Grand Rapids is the second largest city in Michigan, with a vibrant economy and a revitalized downtown that provides students numerous social and professional opportunities. As the University continues to grow, many regional sites offer graduate programs at locations such as Muskegon, Holland, and Traverse City.

Programs of Study and Degree Requirements
Grand Valley State University offers twenty-two graduate major programs and enrolls approximately 3,600 graduate students each year. Graduate programs include Master of Arts in English, Master of Business Administration, Master of Education (adult and higher education, college student affairs leadership, early childhood education, educational leadership, educational technology, elementary education, gifted and talented, middle and high school, reading, special education, and teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL)), Master of Health Administration, Master of Health Science, Master of Public Administration (criminal justice, health administration, nonprofit management and leadership, and public management), Master of Science in accounting, Master of Science in biology, Master of Science in communications, Master of Science in computer information systems (database management, distributed computing, information systems management, object-oriented technology, and software engineering), Master of Science in criminal justice (labor relations, policy formulations and planning, public administration, and social work), Master of Science in engineering (manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing operations), Master of Science in nursing (clinical emphases: adult/elderly, child, family, mental health, and women; functional roles: administration, advanced practice, case management, education), Master of Science in occupational therapy, Master of Science in physical therapy, Master of Science in physician assistant studies, Master of Science in taxation, and Master of Social Work. Certificates are also available in business (e-commerce), computer science, education, engineering, nursing, and public administration.

Facilities & Resources
The Steelcase Graduate Library, located in the DeVos Center, has a robotic automatic retrieval system that houses 2,600 book bins in a 40-foot-high storage facility and contains approximately 250,000 books. This retrieval system is only found at two other libraries in the country. The library is also the home to the Grand Rapids Bar Association's law library. The Steelcase Graduate Library houses an extensive reference collection with an emphasis on law and business. The GVSU library system houses more than 627,000 volumes, 3,690 periodical subscriptions, and 22,138 reels of microfilm. Computer facilities are available throughout the campus and all labs run on MS Office Suite, SPSS, SAS, SAP, and departmental-specific applications for course instruction. In addition to having wireless access in the main plaza, there are multiple network connections throughout the DeVos Center. DeVos also has forty kiosk stations for access to e-mail, student records, and Library resources.

Expenses and Aid
Tuition is $310 per credit hour for in-state students and $686 per credit hour for out-of-state and international students. There are no additional fees charged to students for tuition or academic programs. Students who qualify for a graduate assistantship are considered Michigan residents for tuition purposes.

Financial Aid:
Grand Valley State University offers graduate assistantships through various departments to help students finance their education. Many assistantships cover tuition and include a stipend for hours worked in conjunction with faculty members. Domestic students may also apply for federal student aid. Tuition reimbursement options are available through some local employers.

Housing/Living Expenses:
Grand Valley State University offers housing for graduate students at the Pew Campus, in downtown Grand Rapids. Housing 180 students, Secchia Hall has one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units and is located directly across the street from the academic facilities. Winter Hall features fully furnished one- and two-bedroom efficiencies. The most recent costs range from $2190 to $3900 per semester. Off-campus housing within walking distance of the campus is readily available in the Grand Rapids community.
