The University of Miami School of Business is a first class MBA Program in a world-class business school. Offering it’s first MBA degree in 1948, the School of Business has grown from a nationally recognized school to a global presence in MBA education. The School of Business has built on its competitive advantages of cultural diversity, geographic location and outstanding faculty to continually improve its programs and maintain its global status as a premier school for business education. The University of Miami School of Business is the most prestigious private university in Florida, and is one of the only private universities in south Florida with AACSB International accreditation.

The student body is a diverse group representing 26 different states and almost 30 countries throughout the world.

Community
Chartered in 1925, and opening in 1926, the University of Miami is an independent, private, nonsectarian, nonprofit institution of higher learning The University is composed of 13 college and schools on four campuses. The 260-acre Coral Gables campus incorporates two colleges and ten schools, residential colleges, and administrative buildings. Coral Gables is known for its tropical beauty and Mediterranean-inspired architecture. The Coral Gables campus is conveniently located near downtown Miami and the beaches.

Miami’s strategic location as a gateway between the United States, Latin American, and the Caribbean, combined with its modern infrastructure, have made it an exciting place to work and live. Miami has become the city of choice for banking, legal, and accounting professionals and attracts many Fortune 500 companies. More than 1,250 multinational corporations have opened divisions in Miami. Additionally, 121 banks and banking divisions, 25 foreign trade offices, 64 consulates and 33 bi-national chambers of commerce are located in Miami.

Multicultural activity abounds with operas, ballets, theater productions, concerts, and film premieres throughout the year. There is a wide array of activities-professional, collegiate, and intramural team sporting events, excellent golf and tennis facilities, and fine restaurants available in the community. Program of Study and Degree Requirements
The University of Miami offers an MBA program that is innovative, flexible, and career focused. It is designed to meet the needs of the student with an undergraduate background in business as well as the student who is entering the business arena. The curriculum not only prepares business leaders of the future, but also adds a valuable dimension to other professions.

The Two-Year MBA Program is a 48-credit, lock-step program that can be completed in less than two calendar years (21 months), which students can complete regardless of their undergraduate degree (business or non-business). The first year of the program is lock-step and cohort in nature where classes will be predetermined and taken with the same group of students. Cohort group size will range between 35 and 40 students. The second year will permit a flexible schedule allowing students to enroll in elective courses, which may be used to obtain a concentration.

The One-Year MBA Program is available to those students who plan to begin the Master of Business Administration during the Spring semester. The program is also lock-step and cohort in nature, and only offered once per year in January. It is designed for students who graduated in the last five years, with an undergraduate degree in business, from an accredited university. Work experience is required, but a summer internship between the first and second semesters may meet the work experience requirement. The curriculum prepares business leaders of the future, adding a valuable dimension to their education.

Facilities and Resources
The School of Business is housed in a modern complex surrounding a tropical courtyard with picturesque outdoor seating, encompassing the George W. Jenkins Building, and the Willliam and Elsa Stubblefield classroom building in one complex. The Stubblefield Building contains classrooms, faculty offices, administrative areas, and conference rooms.

A 48,000 square foot addition to the business school complex, completed in the year 2000, includes the Storer Auditorium, the James W. McLamore Executive Education Center, the MBA student lounge, a paperless library and the computer lab featuring the most advanced technology. The 300-seat auditorium accommodates business guest lecturers, and student and faculty presentations. Classrooms, dedicated exclusively to graduate business students, incorporate the most recently developed technology, including full computer network access at every student’s seat, and projectors linked to a lectern with built in computer and Internet access.

The Judi Prokop Newman Business Information Center functions as a “virtual library” in the School of Business emphasizing the use of computer technology. Laptop computers are permanently installed at each table for the students’ use providing access to an array of business research databases. Additionally, the Center conducts monthly workshops for students on topics such as company, industry and legal research.

The School of Business’ modern computer labs feature 75 IBM personal computers with access to the Internet and the University’s other on-line resources.
