An Overview
Saint Mary's College of California is one of the oldest and most distinguished colleges in the West. The Mission of the School of Education is to prepare teachers, administrators and counselors to be competent practitioners and agents for positive personal and social change.

The Community
Saint Mary’s College of California is a place of great beauty, located in the Moraga foothills just 20 miles east of San Francisco. Its rich resources include a well-equipped library and other technologically advanced academic facilities, such as a state-of-the-art science center. Accreditation
Saint Mary’s College of California is nationally recognized as a standard four-year college; both the undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The credential programs in the School of Education are also accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. The Montessori program is affiliated with the American Montessori Society and accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.

Expenses and Aid
Tuition, $765 per unit
Several financial aid options are available to assist students with paying for their education. The Saint Mary's College Financial Aid Office will assist you regarding federal and state loans and Veteran’s Administration Education Assistance Programs. The School of Education offers several scholarships as well as scholarship resources. Please visit the School of Education or call us at (925) 631-4700 for more information. Students are encouraged to apply for every available option. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be accessed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please contact Saint Mary's College Financial Aid Office, or the School of Education with any questions to ensure your maximum consideration for all programs.

Admissions
The School of Education seeks to enroll students of high quality, and welcomes applications from students who show professional promise and who are motivated and capable of meeting the practical and intellectual demands of teaching, counseling, and administration. Applicants are considered on an individual basis.

Please call or email the School of Education for application materials. You will need to provide the following items to the School of Education: application form and fee, personal statement, two official transcripts from all colleges attended, three letters of recommendation, tuberculin test results, interview with program director or program admissions counselor, current credentials, CBEST results and CSET results (if applicable).

Saint Mary's College accepts international students who have completed the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record. International students must submit a completed application for admission to the School of Education, two certified translations of all college transcripts, three letters of recommendation and an application fee. A TOEFL score of 550 or higher with area scores of 55 or higher is required for admission.
