An Overview
The University of Houston–Clear Lake was organized in 1971 as a State-supported, upper-level undergraduate and graduate university to serve juniors, seniors, and graduate students. It is one of four campuses governed by the University of Houston System Board of Regents. It is composed of the Schools of Business and Public Administration, Education, Human Sciences and Humanities, and Natural and Applied Sciences. UH–Clear Lake is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It has received accreditation from the Accrediting Commission on Education for Health Services Administration and, at both the baccalaureate and the master's levels, from AACSB–The International Association for Management Education. Programs in the School of Education have been accredited by the Texas Education Agency and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The University is a member of the American Council on Education, American Association of State Colleges and Universities, Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education, National Association of School Psychologists, and Council of Applied Master's Programs in Psychology.

Expenses and Aid
Costs
Texas residents pay $180 per semester hour; nonresidents pay $350 per semester hour.

Housing
UH–Clear Lake recently opened its first on-campus apartment community. Efficiency and two- and four-bedroom units with computer hookups to campus in each bedroom, furniture option, pool/jacuzzi, clubhouse, and on-site resident staff are available for occupancy. Complete housing information packets are available by calling 281-286-5959.

Financial Aid
Students may seek financial assistance in the form of loans, grants, scholarships, or part-time employment. Financial assistance is awarded based on demonstrated need as determined by federal and state regulations. Every effort is made to cover the difference between the cost of attending UH–Clear Lake and the amount of support that a student and/or family can reasonably be expected to provide. Students applying to the Federal Stafford Student Loan Program must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 hours (known as three-quarter time). The University endeavors to ensure that all applications for financial assistance are evaluated in a consistent manner on the basis of a consistent interpretation of need. Students are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); forms may be obtained from the institution where the applicant is currently enrolled or from the UH–Clear Lake Office of Financial Aid. The deadline for filing the FAFSA is the April 1 preceding the academic year for which aid is being requested. Students who file after the deadline may be considered for aid if funds remain available. Although applications for financial assistance can be processed entirely by mail, the Office of Financial Aid welcomes the opportunity to confer with applicants personally. No action on initial requests for aid are taken until the applicant has been officially admitted.

How to Apply
Any applicant who has earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and who is eligible to return to the last institution attended may apply for graduate standing. Students must also provide scores on the standardized test specified by their academic division (GRE, GMAT, or MAT). Each program may have additional requirements for admission. To be accepted into a degree program, a student must meet all program admission requirements and obtain both the consent of the associate dean or program director and approval of a plan of study. Applications and supporting credentials should be submitted approximately ninety days before the start of the term in which the student wishes to enter. Students applying to the School of Business and Public Administration must submit applications and credentials by August 1 for fall entry, December 1 for spring entry, and May 1 for summer entry. The application fee is $30. International students must submit their applications and credentials to the University by March 1 for summer, June 1 for fall, and October 1 for spring.
